According to the dictionary Svensk ordbok a torp ("croft") is a smaller dependent farming unit were the family had to do work for the landowner. The word "torpargrund" that can be translated to croft foundation has a close connection to the torp and the dictionary Svenska akademins ordlista defines torpargrund as an older house foundation made from stone. Thus, if you build a small house that looks like a torp in a village and build it with a basement will it then be a torp? Strictly the answer is no, but we think that a house that looks like a torp can be called torp. Thus, we call this model torp. The prototype was built in 1911 in Visby villastad and got the property designation Kaktusen 08L. Most likely Fritjof Bergman was the architect, but as or drawing copy is slightly cut we do not know for sure. At first glace the house looks unassuming, but when one starts to study the house the charm in the details is discovered. The proportions are just right, the entrance with all the details is just wonderful. The house had just a kitchen and a single room, a small loft and a basement with a single room.
Laser cut kit in 110 pcs made from MDF, laserboard, paper and acryclics. Windows and chimney 3D printed. H0 footprint 74x90mmr.
Painting suggestion: Falu red with white details and black roof, but houses such as this have been painted in all colours. The fine detail of the model requires thin coats, we recommend airbrushing, but brush painting with thinned paint can be done. We recommend a primer before final painting, our favourite is Tamiya rattle can primer, but you might have your own favourite. Burr and flash from the production process may occur and can easily be removed with a scalpel or det sanding.
Building instruction (in Swedish) included but can also be downloaded
